When Your Legal Case is in the News

September 2016

If you or a family member have been involved in a catastrophic event or serious accident, you may be contacted by the news media.  In all instances, we advise at Herrick & Hart to delay talking to the news media until you have had the opportunity to discuss your case with legal counsel.  In many situations, we may advise that you do not speak to the news media at all.  In some instances the attorney will agree to do the interview, so that you can be left alone do deal with the impact of a life changing event.  In other situations, we may with the assistance of the client put together a statement for delivery to the media.

At Herrick & Hart, we have had the opportunity to work on many high-profile cases.  We understand that the legal process can continue on for years.  We also understand that the interviews or statements that you make soon after an event can be taken out of context and used and a later time to undermine your case.

If you have a case where the media is contacting you for an interview, you should not hesitate to seek the advice of experienced legal counsel.
