Ban on Cell Phone Use in Construction Zones

For nearly 10 years, it has been illegal in the State of Wisconsin to use a cell phone in a construction zone. Wisconsin is one of many states that fully or partially ban the use of cell phones by drivers. A person who is using a cell phone without a hands-free device in a construction zone faces a $40 fine for the first offense and a $100 fine for any violations thereafter. An exception to rule is made for those making an emergency phone call.
